The Mamas Expo Recap

Last Sunday I attended The Mamas Expo at the New York Hall of Science. I had such a fabulous time! I really wish my daughter had been in town that weekend, because it really was fun for the entire family. It made me miss her so much! I’m definitely taking her to visit in the near future! There were so many awesome vendors there. I came home with some cookies and cake pops  from Mamas Custom Cookies, The Sweet Love Company and Cookie Fairy Sweets.  I also purchased a really nice bracelet & necklace from Shu-Shi Shop which sells really nice and unique children’s clothing and accessories. I also went home with lots of pamphlets and samples from different brands I want to learn more about and purchase from in the near future. Overall The Mamas Expo was really awesome and I can’t wait for the next one!

TheMamasExpo1So much awesomeness everywhere!

Gabby’s OOTD-Colorful Geek Chic

GabbysOOTD

Striped V Neck Sweater- Old Navy
Pink Cherokee T-Shirt- Target
Skinny Jeans- H&M

Perry The Platypus  from “Phineas & Ferb” Shoes- Payless (Boys Section)
Strawberry Shortcake Sunglasses-  Goodie Bags from her birthday! lol

I am loving Gabby’s fashion sense so far. One day she’s super girly, the next day she’s lookin’ like a little tomboy. I let her dress herself for the most part. LOL I think it’s important for children to express themselves. I shop for Gabs both in the boys and girls section. We snag lots of cool T’s from the boy’s section and the occasional pair of shoes as shown above.

Does your little one have a style of their own?
Where are your favorite places to shop for them?
Let me know in the comments section! =)

GapKids 2013 Collection by Diane von Furstenberg

I was so excited when DVF collaborated with GapKids last year. Although I only ended up getting Gabby one item from the collection, it is one of her favorite dresses to wear! This year’s limited edition collection is called “The Explorers Collection”. It is safari inspired with exotic prints and patterns inspired by Africa. The collection launched online and in stores today! Here are a few of my absolute favorites from the collection:

This pink wrap dress is iconic and a signature DVF item!

I love these 2 T-Shirt Dresses! Especially the second multi-colored one!

How freakin’ adorable is this chambray shirt dress!

I LOVE the print on this romper!

These skinny jeans are definitely a must have!

How cute is this baby romper?!

These sunglasses are fab! Gabby would LOVE them!

Isn’t the collection just lovely!
Now run on over to your nearest GapKids store or check them out online!

**If you are in the NYC area then head on over to the GapKids store on 5th avenue for this event!**

Ann

ANN-Holland-Taylor

I was so excited when I got invited to see Ann on Broadway. Thanks Culture Mom Media! I had heard so much about Ann Richards, the legendary governor of Texas. And then of course Holland Taylor was playing her, and well who doesn’t love Holland Taylor?  The woman is hilarious! Most of us know her from the show Two And A Half Men.

The show was awesome! Holland Taylor put on a heck of a one woman show! To give you a quick synopsis of the show :

“ANN is an intimate, no-holds-barred portrait of Ann Richards,
the legendary Governor of Texas.
This inspiring and hilarious new play brings us face to face with a complex, colorful and captivating character bigger than the state from which she hailed.”

The show began with Ann giving a speech to a graduating class in Texas. Standing tall and proud at the podium she spoke to us the graduates (The audience). It really felt like she was there in person. Holland Taylor did an amazing job at bringing Ann Richards to life! She definitely connected well with the audience. I love when actors make us feel like a part of the show.It was interesting to learn about her childhood, marriage, and alcoholism. Even with all the negativity she managed to one day become Governor of Texas! Did I mention the show was hilarious? My friend and I kept on laughing throughout the show. Actually, everyone was constantly chuckling. I couldn’t think of a better person to play Ann Richards than Holland Taylor. She even had the perfect Texan accent which is a must!

I definitely recommend  everyone to go on over the to the  Vivian Beaumont Theater at the Lincoln Center to go see Ann. Not only will you learn about Ann Richards the politician, but you’ll learn about the strong woman she was. I’m sure many of you will be able to relate to her. I know I did.

*Sidenote- I totally sat next to Victor Garber who was sitting next to Katherine LaNasa! It’s nice to see celebs as everyday people. They seemed really nice. Nothing like their characters on Deception. LOL

FTC: I was provided tickets to the show free of charge.
However,all opinions are my own.

The Blog Workshop: An affordable Conference Experience

TBW Promo Banner

I’ve only gone to one blogger conference so far in my blogging career. Why? Well they can be pretty expensive most times. The one and only conference I’ve gone to was only because it took place in my current city at the time. Not to mention I was able to volunteer which helped out immensely. I have a list of conferences I would love to attend but with the cost of the conference tickets, flight & hotel and of course spending money,I doubt that I’ll be going to any in the near future.

I was so excited when I found out about The Blog Workshop conference. A blogger conference from home? No way!  I am so excited about this conference. It’ll be nice to learn so much from the comfort of my home. The agenda is looking great with speakers  from IZEA, Blog-Trends, Attorney Jeneba Ghatt, Blogads, Sverve CEO Rohit Vashisht and more!

Not only is the agenda awesome,so is the price. $175 covers the entire conference! YUP, That’s right. Only $175. I think its too great of a deal to pass up. That’s such a great deal compared to what you would pay to attend any other conference. To learn more about the conference click here: More Info

Hair Rules

hairrules Gabriella’s hair is super curly! It’s a mixture of my curly hair and her daddys kinky hair. I’m Central American and her daddy is African American. Gabby’s hair is gorgeous but can be hard to maintain sometimes (Especially when she doesn’t let me style it!). I’m constantly on a mission to find great products for her hair. I’ve tried a lot of different brands but nothing really seemed to really work until I tried Hair Rules on her hair.

The main products I have been using are the following:

Daily Cleansing Cream Shampoo- This no suds shampoo smells amazing! It is moisturizing and creamy. I love that it’s creamy because it softens Gabby’s hair enough that I can slowly start to detangle it with my fingers.

Quench Ultra Rich Conditioner- This conditioner is awesome! It definitely quenches Gabby’s hair which sucks up moisture like a sponge. It really helps me to detangle her hair as well! I usually detangle it in sections and make quick twists in her hair so I can style is easily when she is out of the shower!

Kinky Curling Cream- This stuff is the bomb.com! lol Gabby’s hair has major shrinkage! Her hair is pretty long but sometimes you can’t really tell. This stuff is so awesome because it defines and moisturizes her curly hair but at the same time stretches it out a bit. I apply this as soon as she is out of the shower!

Hydrating Finishing Cream- Once Gabby’s hair is pretty much dry I apply some of this finishing cream to further hydrate her hair.

Hair Rules products are my favorite for Gabby’s hair so far. Nothing else has really worked for her. I love that they are sulfate free and smell amazing! The minute I started using Hair Rules products on her hair people would ask me what I was using,so you know it’s working wonders!

For more information check out their site: http://www.hairrules.com
Also be sure to follow them on Instagram,Facebook & Twitter!
And if you are in the NYC area then check out the Hair Rules Salon!
( I know I definitely want to pay them a visit very soon!)

Thanks for making awesome products Hair Rules!
