The calm after the storm

In all honesty the last two months have been rough. The latest rough patch that occurred recently was my mom being hospitalized the day before Thanksgiving. Mind you, she spent last Thanksgiving in the hospital as well! Luckily she was released today and is back home resting up. Gabby is doing a good job taking care of her abuelita.

I don’t want to get into details about my mother’s health, but its sad how sometimes you don’t realize how important someone is to you until something bad happens….. I need to start appreciating people in my life more. One second they’re here, the next they could be gone. Life is too short. It really is.

Right now I feel like this is the calm after the storm. I need to get back into the swing of things. I’m happy my mom is home and recovering, and well the other stresses in my life suck, but I need to relax and stop worrying so much!

Happy Belated Thanksgiving to everyone! lol I hope everyone enjoyed their holiday!

Little Artist

little spider

Gabby loves art! What kid doesn’t? When we’re at home she loves coloring, painting, using chalk, markers…etc. There’s even been a few times where Gabby got so crazy with her creations that they made it on the wall…literally. Luckily, the Magic Eraser is AWESOME for removing crayons and other unwanted things from walls.

I love picking her up from school, walking over to her little cubby and finding the little projects they’ve made during the day. It makes me so happy. I remember my mother would save all the little pieces of art I would make. I like to post Gabby’s work throughout our apartment. It brings a huge smile to my face.

3 Musketeers Like Up Event

This past Wednesday I attended a lovely “Like-Up” happy hour event sponsored by the 3 Musketeers. Linda Grant from NYC SINGLE MOM, Jessica Shyba  from Mommas Gone City and Jen Rabulan-Bertram from Babyrific hosted the event held at the W Hotel in Times Square.

I had a really awesome time. It was the perfect after work event to attend. Everyone was really friendly and the food, drinks and chocolate were amazing! Thank you to Linda for inviting me to the event!

Halloween fun in Park Slope

Waiting for daddy to go trick or treating!

Yesterday Gabby ,her daddy and I enjoyed a lovely early evening trick or treating in Park Slope. Gabby enjoyed going door to door ,and store to store collecting candy and goodies. Everyone looked so great dressed up in their costumes. Some people put in a lot of effort and came up with some really great creations.

After trick or treating for a bit we headed over to 7th Avenue to watch “BOO-klyn!”, the Annual Park Slope Civic Council Children’s Halloween Parade. Some of the costumes were so amazing. I wish I could’ve taken more pics. Gabby was a bit cranky at this point since she hadn’t napped at all.

After the parade we headed home Gabby couldn’t wait to eat her candy. SMH! She has tons of candy now! We had to hide the  bag from her. lol Overall, we had an awesome Halloween weekend. I hope everyone else did too!
